Stomp Out Cancer jersey returns in Game 8 vs. Illinois
'Heroes' uniform & fan gear revenue help support cancer research
PORTLAND, Ore. — Oregon's Game 8 uniform reveal brings back the 2024 update of the popular Stomp Out Cancer series and the fan-favorite Wing lids: Yellow jerseys and gloves with black trim, black pants and cleats, and silver wings on black helmets were announced as the Ducks’ Week 8 uniform combo for Illinois at Autzen.
“Heroes” uniform & fan gear revenue will help support cancer research and the University of Oregon's Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact.
The “Heroes” jersey concept was designed with input from Oregon coach Dan Lanning, his three sons, and Lanning’s wife Sauphia — a 2017 survivor of bone cancer:
The yellow base color represents Sauphia Lanning's battle with osteosarcoma.
Oregon’s trademark “O” logo is featured on the sleeves and back of the helmet — this time incorporating a yellow ribbon motif in tribute to survivors of bone cancer.
A multi-color panel on the helmet shows support for those who battle all cancers.
Coach Lanning suggested the molecular diagram of the “Red Devil” chemotherapy in the background mosaic on some player accessories and fan gear items.
Many fans will recall the familiar shoulder wings and diamond-plate elements from prior Oregon jersey designs.
